DIP Workshop First Ever in Milano!

"Every turn is a step closer to the true self." – Ziya Azazi   For almost 15 years, I have travelled across Italy—from south to north, east to west—sharing my artistic vision and the Dervish in Progress (DIP) method through workshops, performances, and teachings. Now, for the very first time, I am proud and excited to bring this transformative practice to Milano!   It will be a joy to welcome friends, followers, and newcomers from Italy and beyond. If you already know the power of DIP, I warmly encourage you to bring your loved ones—those you believe will benefit from turning, transforming, and experiencing positive change in their lives.   This three-day journey is open to everyone: from complete beginners to dedicated DIP followers, members, and DIPTEP students and graduates. Together, we will explore the deep connection between Body, Mind, and Emotion, while tapping into the brain’s neuroplasticity—its natural ability to adapt, grow, and reorganize.   Dervish in Progress brings together the essence of spiritual experiences from different cultures and geographies, creating a global language of spirituality. It values both local knowledge and the shared wisdom of diverse traditions, using turning as a universal bridge. This practice starts with the body, extends to the mind, and reaches the emotions—bringing peace, balance, and health to the whole self.   During turning, all systems of the body work together—nerves, muscles, joints, breath, hormones, and immunity move in harmony. Oxygen from the breath energizes the cells, movement stimulates blood flow, and the nervous system constantly communicates with the brain. This natural synchrony supports physical repair, calms the mind, and balances the emotions. DIP turns spinning into more than just movement—it becomes a powerful tool to heal the body, clear the mind, and nourish the soul.   Even if you are joining for the very first time, step-by-step guidance will help you feel stronger in your body, calmer in your mind, and more balanced in your emotions. Turning renews you from the inside out. By the end of the workshop, you will feel lighter, healthier, and more connected to life—ready to carry this transformation into your everyday living.   Workshop Focus   Body, Mind, Emotion – Bringing these three dimensions into unity through turning. Learn, Implement, Become – Gathering knowledge, applying it, and transforming ourselves. Triple Self, Triple Thinking – Recognizing our unity beyond the physical, just as spiritual trinities symbolize wholeness.   As Rumi said: “The wound is the place where the light enters you.” Through spinning, we embrace challenges as invitations for growth—emerging more resilient and alive. Location Spazio Mamawati, via Savona 134, Milano   Dates & Times October 10 – 12, 2025 3 days · 16 hours total   Friday, 10 October: 19:00 – 23:00 Saturday, 11 October: 12:00 – 18:00 Sunday, 12 October: 10:00 – 16:00   The workshop builds step by step, so attending all three days is best. Beginners must start on Friday. If a beginner can only start on Saturday, they must book a 1-hour one-on-one with Ziya Azazi (€90) on Saturday before joining the group. Islam and Democracy: Dialogue Beyond Boundaries

Date: 26 October 2025 Time: 18:00 Location: MuseumsQuartier Wien, Raum D — Vienna, Austria   The topic of 'Islam and Democracy' continues to inspire reflection and discussion in contemporary Europe. Public debate—especially concerning migration and inclusion—is often clouded by generalizations and polarized views. This event seeks to open new paths for understanding and nuance, exploring how faith and democratic values can coexist within pluralistic societies. It encourages open dialogue, empathy, and shared insight among all participants.   Program “Heaven and Earth – Mystical Dance” Performance by **Ziya Azazi** — internationally acclaimed artist, choreographer, and founder of *Dervish in Progress*. Born in Antioch/Hatay and living in Vienna, Azazi is one of the most recognized contemporary Sufi dancers in Europe. His art combines the ancient Sufi whirling tradition with modern aesthetics and digital creativity, bridging cultures and emotions. Through his performance, both the dancer and the audience experience an altered state of perception, touching the fine line between emotion, release, and transcendence. The performance opens this evening’s dialogue on ‘Political Islam vs. Democracy’ by inviting reflection beyond ideology — into shared humanity, presence, and awareness.   Panel Discussion   Prof. Dr. Jens Kreinath — Professor of Anthropology at Wichita State University (Kansas, USA). He specializes in the anthropology of Islam, aesthetics of religion, and the meaning of rituals. His fieldwork focuses on heterodox Islamic traditions and interreligious pilgrimage sites in Turkey. He is a leading expert on Syria and intercultural coexistence.   Dr. Fatma Akay‑Türker — Historian and Islamic religious educator, currently pursuing a doctorate in Islamic Theology. In 2023, she founded the Muslim Women’s Society of Austria to promote dialogue around gender and equality from within the Muslim community. Her work represents courage, reform, and social transformation.   Prof. Dr. Fritz Hausjell — Emeritus Professor at the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies, University of Vienna, and President of *Reporters Without Borders Austria (RSF)*. His main areas include migration, diversity in media, media ethics, and public communication. He actively promotes responsible journalism and democratic awareness.   Moderation: Dr. Zeynep Arslan — Doctor of Social Sciences, gender and diversity expert, and author. Her research focuses on identity, postcolonial critique, Alevism, intersectional feminism, migration, and plurilingualism, with an emphasis on the social positioning of marginalized groups.   The organizers of this evening’s performance and discussion aim to create a space free from prejudice — a focused encounter where dance, dialogue, and diversity meet. By combining movement and thought, emotion and intellect, this event seeks a deeper understanding between people, bridging not only East and West but also *Heaven and Earth*.

DIP Returns to Malta – The Seed Blossoms!

"Every turn is a step closer to the true self.” – Ziya Azazi   After inspiring participants in 38 countries, Dervish in Progress (DIP) returns to Malta, where its first workshop and performance last July planted a seed of awareness and transformation. This December, that seed blossoms into a renewed encounter—inviting us to explore harmony between body, mind, and emotion through conscious turning.   About Dervish in Progress Dervish in Progress is a contemporary whirling practice founded by Ziya Azazi, a Vienna-based choreographer, performer, and researcher. Rooted in the ancient dervish tradition yet expressed through modern science, psychology, and art, DIP represents a contemporary path to holistic awareness—a global spirituality beyond dogma, culture, or religion. Through rhythmic movement and focused awareness, DIP activates the body’s natural intelligence and neuroplasticity. The practice enhances emotional balance, cognitive clarity, and physical vitality. Each turn becomes an act of self-observation—an inquiry into consciousness where motion, perception, and stillness merge.   Workshop Experience Across three days, participants will engage in guided exercises integrating breath, alignment, and rotation. The process cultivates focus, balance, and vitality, turning movement into meditation and presence into energy. DIP invites everyone—artists, thinkers, seekers, and movers—to explore transformation through the body. It is both a scientific study of human potential and a philosophical journey toward coherence, where thought, feeling, and action align in harmony.   Workshop Focus • Body – Mind – Emotion: Integration through motion and awareness. • Learn – Implement – Become: From understanding to embodiment. • Turning as a Universal Bridge: Expanding from self to shared humanity.   Location BGB Ballet School https://bgbballet.com/ WF7W+C79, Triq Il-Kullegg, Sliema SLM 1376, Malta   Dates & Times December 5 – 7, 2025 · 3 days · 16 hours total • Friday: 18:00 – 22:00 • Saturday: 12:00 – 18:00 • Sunday: 10:00 – 16:00 Beginners are guided from the first day to develop a grounded and integrated experience.   Registration Fees Regular: €250 DIP Community / Maltese Residents: –10% DIPTEP Students & Groups (5+): –20%   Info & Registration: Merve Cungar · +356 9994 1444 mervecungar@gmail.com

Dervish in Progress Returns to Belgium

Transforming Through Whirling   “Whirling is not about losing balance, it’s about finding your centre.” — Dervish in Progress   We are very happy to announce that Dervish in Progress returns once more to Belgium! This workshop is made possible thanks to Eva Zabarylo, founder and director of Compagnie Bougie, and Karlien Buysse, long-time member of the Whirling World, performer, teacher, and devoted participant in D.I.P. Together they open the door again for whirling in Belgium, creating an opportunity for those curious and passionate to gather, whirl, and transform.   Dervish in Progress (D.I.P.) is not only a practice of movement, but a way of entering a wider reality. It begins with learning to listen: to the body’s signals, to the rhythm of breath, to the subtle play between balance and speed. From there, one learns how to carry these forces with trust, how to let the body rise and expand while the centre remains stable.   Beyond this physical ground lies another layer: the ability to let body, emotion, and mind flow together as if they were turning wheels. Each one adds its own voice — the strength of the body, the depth of the emotions, the clarity of the mind. When guided with intention, these voices form a single harmony, and the whirl becomes more than spinning: it becomes a state of presence.   And deeper still, the practice reveals the architecture of our being. The way we hold ourselves, the way breath flows, the way movement shapes our inner space. By understanding this inner design, we learn to whirl with less resistance and more freedom, with more grace and less effort. It is like discovering a hidden language of the body, one that speaks directly to the spirit.   Dervish in Progress is therefore both art and meditation, discipline and liberation. It expands and grounds the body, opens and releases the heart, sharpens and calms the mind. What may at first appear as disorientation becomes a new form of clarity — a trust in life, an invitation to meet the unknown with courage. Above all, it is a call to gather, to whirl together, and to witness how motion becomes transformation.   Workshop Schedule   Friday, 27 March 2026 — 19:00 to 22:00 Saturday, 28 March 2026 — 12:00 to 18:00 Sunday, 29 March 2026 — 10:00 to 16:00   Total: 15 hours of guided practice, discovery, and joyful sharing.   Early Bird Prices (valid until 31 October, after which a 15% increase will apply)   Full Rate: 290 € Support Rate: 260 € (for those in real need; we trust your honesty) Whirling Community: 250 € (whirlers with at least 10 workshops; proof required) Two Days: 220 € (for whirlers) One Day: 130 € (for whirlers)   -   The workshop builds step by step, so attending all three days is best.
